Pricing: what's free, and what a scan costs

Basic mode is free and needs no account: 10 pages a day and 100 a month, rising to 100 pages a day and 1,000 a month once you sign in. AI mode, which transcribes scanned pages into real editable text, requires a signed-in account with a payment method on file and draws on that same account allowance; beyond it, purchased pages are charged. Converting with your own API key is not metered at all.

The AI row is not a second allowance. A signed-in account with a payment method on file draws AI-mode pages from the very same daily and monthly pool that Basic mode uses.
What happens when you hit the cap
When an allowance runs out the conversion is refused rather than half-done, and the page tells you which window you hit and when it resets (daily windows reset at 00:00 UTC, monthly ones on the 1st). Signing in raises the allowance; buying pages covers AI-mode work beyond it.

- Yes, within a stated allowance. Basic mode is free and needs no account: 10 pages a day and 100 a month, rising to 100 pages a day and 1,000 a month once you sign in. There is no watermark, no account needed for Basic mode, and no trial that expires.
- What does AI mode cost?
- AI mode, which transcribes scanned pages into real editable text, requires a signed-in account with a payment method on file and draws on that same account allowance; beyond it, purchased pages are charged. Converting with your own API key is not metered at all. We do not publish a per-page figure here because the paid tiers are configured server-side; the buy options on this page show the live catalogue when payments are switched on.

- Why does AI mode need a payment method even inside the free allowance?
- Reading a scanned page with a vision model costs real money every time it runs, so it is the one path that can be abused at our expense. A card on file is the anti-abuse check, not a charge: inside the allowance nothing is billed.
- Can I avoid the allowance entirely?
- Yes — paste your own API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) and the conversion runs at your provider's cost. Nothing is metered here in that mode.
Buying requires an account. Sign in — we email you a one-time link, there is no password. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card.
